Cruel Prince by Holly Black

If you did not pick up this series, you are really missing out. This is an amazing way to start trying the fantasy genre. Holly Black managed to create a really unique, yet somewhat creepy world of fairies that are both beautiful and terrifying. The thing that you expect to see: the balls and fine gowns are made to look like weird, misplaced pictures from nightmares. It is alluring and thrilling. The romance in this book is the best representation of enemies to lovers trope in existence. The characters are non-trivial and conflicted. I have to mention incredible details that are sprinkled on every page: from descriptions of finery to meals are imaginative and unique.

A Court of Throne and Roses by S.J. Maas

I don’t think I would be able to proceed without mentioning S.J. Maas. She is a queen of high fantasy romance. S.J. Maas produced several mega popular series, and she is still working on adding more books. I really enjoyed A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Court of Mist and Fury. Many authors before S.J. Maas attempted to write love triangles and they rarely work, in my opinion. In this case she executed the twist seamlessly leaving all of us wanting more. The worldbuilding, the action scenes are to die for. The romance line is amazingly written with mountains of tension and sensuality.

Fable by Adrienne Young

I love this book so much that I read it twice in a row and then read it one more time after that. What separates Adrienne from other fantasy writers is that she is extremely clever and is able to create complex layers of narrative that open more meanings with every read through. The romance is very real and down to earth, the characters give a certain amount of authenticity to the story that I don’t believe we see that often from this genre.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

If you have never heard about the Fourth Wing, you might be from another planet. It feels like the whole world went crazy over this book and the sequel that just recently came out, exploded on Instagram. I am not good at predicting things, but I can tell that the future of fantasy romance will be infused with dragons and military academies. I am not separating myself from other authors, I am writing my own dragon book in the near future.

Let me tell you why Forth Wing is a really good book. It is fast paced, and action packed. The action starts from the very first scene, which I personally love. With extensive worldbuilding, this book doesn’t feel too long or wordy. Characters are diverse and the main female lead is badass. The romance line is swoon worthy and intriguing.

Yes ( this year actually) I had to catch up to make the release of A Soul of Ash and Blood 😂 I was really worried I wouldn’t like it, but Jennifer L. Armentrout‘s writing really drew me in. I can’t wait for the next book!
